The idea that women need intervention in childbirth only because they don’t “trust their bodies” is dangerously simplistic and wrong. Birth is unpredictable, and the real concern for many isn’t a lack of trust in themselves — it’s the fear of being unsafe.

Labour wants to scrap PIP for those with "lower needs" i.e. scoring 3 or less for each activity. Let’s look at what that means. Need someone to lift you in and out of the shower? = 3 points. Need someone to dress your lower body – to put on your pants and trousers? = 2 points.

Within their national contracts, Resident Doctors’ breaks are paid. Not because it’s nice. It’s because there is recognition that it’s impractical and unrealistic to expect a doctor carrying a bleep not to respond to a patient just because they’re on a break. 1/2
