Moving to RE will help us curb a huge amount of FX outflows each year. Let’s not forget, the resorts consume an equivalent amount of fossil fuel to that of inhabited islands, if not more. Carbon taxation is a must to incentivize the private sector to move towards RE.

Fuel Subsidy is a Carbon Subsidy We are paying utility companies to burn fossil fuels. If Maldives want to rapidly reach #NetZero this needs to go stop so utilities are forced to make their operations efficient and less carbon intensive. It can't be business as usual!

Discrimination against low-income forieng workers is hardly surprising. We are about to implement a minimum wage that essentially excludes them. Such blatant discrimination against foreigners in the workplace would cause an uproar in most developed countries.

Are offices reopening coz that’s so predictable 🤭 A significant amnt of civil servants can work from home & physically being present is unnecessary. Facilitation of WFH & remote working is a better step towards decentralisation than any of these dumb housing loans for islands

Doctors can't be too senior to refuse to work in a pandemic. Facilities are manned by MOs, they do their best. Remove these individuals who refuse to work and cancel their licence to practice!
