So, another day in the endless car-crash known locally as the BCP Conservatives. With at least 4 of its 11 current members on the sharp end of misconduct sanctions, & an endless stream of leadership scandals, there seems no bottom to this blue barrel. And it's all self-inflicted.

The scandal will surely kill off two Beesley ambitions. He's allegedly 1 of 2 candidates for the group leader role; the other being local estate agent & fellow cllr Toby Slade. He's also said to be vying for nomination as Mayor of Bournemouth in 2027. Both seem unlikely now. ⬇️

The latest controversy comes just as BCP Conservatives are reeling from their previous controversy. A by-election takes place next month to replace Broadhead, and Tory candidate Jo Keeling will be keen to avoid negative headlines. Obviously she picked the wrong party, but hey. ⬇️

It transpired that Bournemouth's CEO Tony Williams was gathering evidence against Beesley. The exec was later made redundant - prompting an extraordinary accusation from local MP Chris Chope that Beesley forced him out to prevent an investigation. ⬇️ lgcplus.com/politics/gover…

This is hardly Beesley's first rodeo. He was found to have breached the Cllr Code of Conduct last year, after comments made to a member of the public. And as Bournemouth council leader, he was the subject of a 2-year misconduct investigation... OK, brace yourselves for this... ⬇️

For Beesley, the timing couldn't be worse. This week his party elects a new leader, after former head Phil Broadhead quit in disgrace. Broadhead was found to have illegally claimed council tax discounts for several years. His predecessor, Drew Mellor, quit in disgrace in 2023. ⬇️

According to a statement from current BCP leader Millie Earl, the complaint relates to the "treatment of council officers in a series of emails from Cllr Beesley". The complaint is supported by members of five (5) different political groups at the council. BUT WAIT... ⬇️

Mark, what’s not right is that a minority of people come down here and think it’s ok to trash the place like this and then clear off home. Let’s remember that, when the default position is just to stick the boot into the council and its staff @stirlingfellow
