There’s a whole critical disability studies dissertation to be written on “disorder” as pejorative for disrupting the political status quo.

10. Winter cont. Rest looks different for monotropic people and needs validating so monotropic people can rest in ways that allow them re-energise and recover. Adkin, (2022) & Arnold et al. (2023). End of thread.
9. Winter is a time of rest. Being monotropic can be intense. Having to split attention resources across multiple channels is exhausting. Without meaningful rest and time to recover it can lead to burnout.

5.Summer is a time of flourishing. It’s important to understand that a person’s monotropic passions are an integral part of their autistic identity. By providing safe spaces for them to engage in a state of flow it can help regulation.
