About 30 Amazon workers in Cicero walked out around 5am this morning demanding better pay, shorter shifts, and bonuses that were promised but not delivered. They are not unionized and were threatened with retaliation.
People deserve compassion especially when it's freezing cold outside. To change the vents at city Hall simply because houseless people are using them to stay warm is cruel. We need leadership in #HamOnt that centres folks, not one that hastens death.

A new public library in my area has these work stations for caregivers with babies! Maybe these are common in other places but Ive never seen anything like this before.
Spending $8,000,000 on a physical building seems like a poor decision for a grassroots movement seeking justice & advancing #BlackLivesMatter objectives in communities.

love, solidarity, and gratitude to these two courageous organizers for sharing their experiences with BLM-TO/BLM Canada
what started as a challenge to power has become co-opted by power. we hate to see it, but the truth needs to be told

In solidarity and in sending healing, I thank Sarah Jama and Sahra Soudi for their labour and transparency.
@BLM_TO has been operating as nothing more than another cooperation, capitalizing off of the trauma faced by the communities they have been trusted to care for.

@MissDieulita @NoPolicing@BeverlyBain13 How that's working out.
This is why you can't be grassroots or radical, while accepting money from politicians and corporations.
It was never going to be good.

A lot of us have known about the rot in this tree for many years. The bill really came due on this one.
Hoping that community activists in Toronto can reclaim this important and powerful movement.

☕ I sympathize with the gaslighting and denial, it's been years of me discussing this and getting these responses. I have stories but I'll leave it at this: BLMTO is rampant with toxicity, narcissism & exclusivism. I'm glad it's FINALLY coming out

Not being able to ethically decide which corporate donations to reject, so instead accepting them all is horrendously representative of BLM global/Canada/TOs true intentions.
