So this chart, which I made using the numbers in S. Mintz' recent Inside Higher Ed. piece (link and original source below) on the change in permanent faculty for 14 history departments is catastrophic. We, as a field, as a discipline, should be discussing almost nothing else. 1/

This is something I was hoping we would see when the JWST images first started coming out. Seeing movement in astronomical objects is one of the coolest things to me. I was wondering how much we would see over a few decades.

Good 🧵on how maps of the evolving Ukraine conflict can be misleading. @Calthalas ends up endorsing @Nrg8000 's map showing lines of Russian advance rather than 'zones of control' which is absolutely right.
