Figured I might as well share the rest of my peak 100 mile training workouts with you guys. Today was 4x 8 minute tempo intervals. This is around my road marathon pace. Tomorrow I have some biking.
Proof of pacing. Got to cover a bit of WSER course. Feet only slightly banged up. Not a fan of UTMB races at all. Zero chance I support them in the future based on how they treated crew at aid stations.
We finished the race a while ago. Pretty brutal climbs to cap it off. I really want a shower now.
Easy shakeout run plus a few strides. Big breakfast. Got a bit of downtime now before we hit the course.
Nobody cares what your VO2 max is. Train it with 4 minute hard intervals anyway. Two minutes light jog between reps today. I’m always slow on my first rep. Will start changing up my warmup and trying a few strides before intervals.

Not a bad week. 40-ish trail miles this weekend. Pumped to pace my buddy at Canyons 100m in two weeks. Nowhere near ready for CA heat. But my new ice bandana showed up, so I’m as good as I’ll get.
I’m basically @bowtiedgreasemo today. Bigger intercooler and a VTA BOV for the truck.
7x 1k intervals today. Negative splits aside from that one with a hill in it! Not too shabby for being a few days after a 50k. Speedwork is still important for ultra runners. All that long slow distance work makes my interval day each week pretty exciting.
