Paper day! Our pilot study on a double radio relic galaxy cluster system, where both relics are within NuSTAR’s FOV, is accepted for publication by ApJ. I will present this work at 243rd AAS meeting with a sneak peak of the new, deep (240 ks) NuSTAR data. arxiv.org/abs/2312.06020

One of my biggest issues with academia is that the reward for being incompetent at service is less service, and the reward for being good at service is more service, which can lead to unequal (+ very often gendered) service distributions. Any tips for dealing with this?!

#BlackintheIvory I finished my doctorate and applied for jobs a search committee said "we're not sure if you can handle a R1 since you went to a HBCU and not an institutional peer." Meanwhile in my four years as faculty I have more pubs than that person in their 20yr career

Being #blackintheivory is professors assuming I'm quiet in seminars because I'm unprepared for graduate school rather than because I'm shy. It's also them theorizing about it rather than talking to me or offering me, a first-generation anything student, mentoring or resources.
