James Raine opened the tomb of St Cuthbert at Durham Cathedral #OTD in 1827. The cathedral librarian found the saint's remains inside a series of coffins together with relics of other saints and treasures, including vestments, pictured, given by King Æthelstan. 📸Durham Cathedral
