What advice would you give yourself as a junior developer? I would tell myself: * Stay teachable * Be humble * Keep creating * Share everything * Favor action * Be a good communicator What about you?
@hashtagcoder Awesome tips 👍 I'll add: - Be empathetic - Teach what you know - Leave your ego at the door - Embrace coding as a lifelong journey - Learn how to learn - Start a blog And a practical one: - Learn Git! It is absolutely universal among development fields 👍
@hashtagcoder Pay it forward; once you learn something, try and figure out how you can also help someone that needs it too. Mostly you'll also learn something from them too.
@hashtagcoder Contribute to, or make some open source. You'll find out what it's like working with others outside your team. Maybe even some politics. Likely some new arbitrary coding standards. Def some new code. Also, it can be useful when looking for a new role - networking wise, plus exp.
@hashtagcoder So good, made a neutral density BG from it. Thank you!
@hashtagcoder Write code for other humans (and even for your future self), not for computers also: premature optimization **really** is the root of all evil
@hashtagcoder - Don't worry about impostor syndrome. Everyone has it. Just focus on moving on. - Take the tasks you don't want to do but you know will help you. You'll grow fast. - Don't put anyone on a pedestal. We are all humans. We all have problems. Some people just hide them better
@hashtagcoder - Don’t get stuck for too long on a problem, ask for help - Find 2-3 mentors with different skillsets - Stack Overflow is your friend - Don’t judge others’ code too fast - Apply the golden rule
@hashtagcoder 1. Don't be afraid to make mistakes 2. All senior are same stupid as you, don't be afraid of them 3. Don't overthink, just start doing it Your thoughts and plans is nothing without result 4. Create first solution that comes in mind. You can refactor it later when it start working
@hashtagcoder People will treat you horribly if they are afraid of you. They will make up excuses, use your disabilities, and their seniority to keep control. These people are not worth your time, and if they want to limit themselves with that type of behavior, then go elsewhere.
@hashtagcoder Be yourself Don't double think Stop procastinating Short list best friends list (not every friend u make can be your best friend Speak less (stop being a chatter box Double think before doing any favour (I used to help ppl until I realise study were using me Don't feel to much
