Observations from todays medical: 1. At the very very least, I expect my clinician to introduce themselves to me. 2. I also expect them to give me a quick run through of what they’re about to do to my body. 1/2
3. If I don’t understand something, saying the same thing more impatiently won’t make me understand any better. 4. It would be nice, if, medics remembered that we are people, & treated us as such. I’m not talking about going out of their way, I just mean basic communication 2/2
@hopefullizzy I am so sorry you had this. When I had my thyroid scan I actually got a good one. Explained everything as he was doing it. Also explained what he saw. Even though it was devastating.
@hopefullizzy It’s so horrible to be treated so impersonally. I hope you are ok and not too traumatised by it all. Very hard not to be when having so many appointments etc.
@hopefullizzy Awful. I had an eye doctor like that. Didn't introduce himself, started examining my eyes, said look up and the next thing I knew he'd put drops in them. Ones I react to by (very almost) fainting. Then got cross I was lying on the floor
@hopefullizzy what boggles my mind is the difference between quality of care in public and private medical care. i'm saying this considering that the average citizen pays a fair amount of taxes, enough to even get private care oftentimes. meanwhile the governments cut public medical budgets..
@hopefullizzy Very true. I also expect them to offer to wear a mask for everyone's protection but clearly being hygenically respectful is no longer considered good behaviour.
