@jakobpunkt Pretty sure @HamOntParking rides bikes around sometimes. But I think I recalled seeing that Hamilton has like... 8 by-law officers? Which if I'm recalling correctly is less than McMaster has on its campus alone.
@ham_bicycleguy @jakobpunkt @ham_bicycleguy @andrewhann7 Currently on staff, we have 27 parking officers, 7 days/week/24hrs. We do have officers out on the bikes but its depends on staffing\scheduling for that day. Hope this helps
@HamOntParking @ham_bicycleguy @andrewhann7 Thanks for the update! Can you give us a sense of how decisions are made regarding where parking is patrolled? I don't think I have ever once seen a car get a ticket for being in a bike lane, but parking on a through street gets ticketed very reliably, for instance.
@jakobpunkt @ham_bicycleguy @andrewhann7 Good point! I agree. Each officer is assigned an area for their shift. Service calls are attended to first, then proactive work. I recommend to call in violations so that we can send an officer out rather than wait for the off chance an officer arrives.
@HamOntParking @ham_bicycleguy @andrewhann7 Typically stops in bike lanes are too short for that to be practical. Assigning officers to patrol Bay St. and Cannon St. proactively would probably fill your quotas right up, though.
