Students are suspended for their behaviour, not their socio-economic status. The risk factors associated with poverty correlate strongly with anti-social behaviour habits. Suspensions are *necessary* when students’ safety and learning is threatened theguardian.com/education/2023…

I’ll tell tale I always tell…Sept 2017. I’m 10th head in 10 yrs. Staff v cynical. I’m leading 3 days of Cpd to teach whole staff what ‘being Charter’ means. How we model. How we teach. I’m getting staff to SLANT. The grumpiest, most uncooperative staff member is Mr Chapman.

7. Disciplined, safe, orderly environments are THE best places for children to learn, be and feel safe, and to minimise stress, bullying, anxiety etc. Children are *more* stressed* by chaotic environments where routines and norms are inconsistent. *Especially* children with SEND

Just heard something on behaviour training, that said there is no right way to manage behaviour. That you have to find a way that works for you. Nonsense! Certainty, routines, transparent behaviour system work. That’s true consistency. Staff finding their own way is the opposite

Great thread about narrating expectations. If we don’t remind pupils our expectations get forgotten. SLT have to lead the way to support staff and support the pupils in meeting their expectations.
