At Wednesday's Council meeting, I will put forward amendments to gain majority Council support for affordable housing on Stoney Creek parking lots. See attached media release. These amendments will not appear on the agenda as they are part of an amending motion. #HamOnt
@CraigCassar Tell us about YOUR Ward. On the same agenda is protecting low density. Are you redirecting our attention? pub-hamilton.escribemeetings.com/filestream.ash…
@elbielamb1 @CraigCassar This bylaw amendment ADDS density by changing a single lot: "Revised Zoning to permit the creation of six lots, which include two single detached dwellings and four semi detached dwelling units." W12 has three CityHousing sites, will add more if Staff identify W12 locations.
@NancyHamOnt @elbielamb1 @CraigCassar FWIW, according to the ATH list, W12 has 2 (@ 1% of the total affordable housing stock). Stoney Creek has 14 (@ 4% of the total affordable housing stock) Neither are enough, but your point in stating the # in W12 is a bit baffling. ?
@SaundersWard10 @elbielamb1 @CraigCassar There is a misconception that Ancaster has no affordable housing. We do. And we would welcome more if the Housing Secretariat and Staff find suitable city owned land for it.
@NancyHamOnt @SaundersWard10 @elbielamb1 @CraigCassar So if the Housing Secretariat decided to use the parking lot for the library on Wilson St to drop 70 units of affordable housing, Ancaster would be cool with that? BTW, I'm pro housing but I can't see Ancaster welcoming mass housing on any city owned land.
@jancarson65 @NancyHamOnt @elbielamb1 @CraigCassar I doubt it. The Mayor & Councillors themselves haven't even offered up their *free* Parking spots for affordable housing or temporary tiny shelters location.
@jancarson65 @SaundersWard10 @elbielamb1 @CraigCassar If the housing secretariat identified surplus city parking lots in Ancaster as being suitable for affordable housing then yes the Ward Cllr would embrace it.
