My letter to the editor in today’s @TheSpec. #HamOnt #addiction #recovery.
My letter was in response to thespec.com/opinion/contri…
@jennbrasch @TheSpec We need all those things and more. A multi faceted approach that includes those, more rehab space, free access to medications like naltrexone, counseling brought to the places addicts are, not them having to find it themselves
Fantastic. Politicians “we just need rehab programs.” There are no way near enough. We need prevention, poverty reduction, safety for kids and women, food. We endlessly consult on catastrophic strokes and spinal infarcts that go to long term care. $$$$ BC leading cause of death in the young.
@jennbrasch @TheSpec Clearly, Dr Brasch doesn't live beside a homeless encampment. Taking drugs is a choice and those that make that choice should be accountable for the outcome. Only prosecution and sentencing rehab can fix the problem. The hands-off approach clearly doesn't work.
@jennbrasch @PaulMason2 @TheSpec Thank you Dr. Brasch.
@jennbrasch @TheSpec How do you know that the number of deaths from crystal meth and fentanyl would be reduced from legalization?
@jennbrasch @TheSpec It’s good you wrote this but where has your compassion been this past year as you support your colleagues going after safe supply and harm reduction? The attacks have been constant and myths around substance use extreme since articles you shared came out from NP.
@jennbrasch @TheSpec Thank you for this Dr. Bracsh.
