I fear the new Warner Bros Lord of the Rings movies are going to end up thin, sort of stretched, like source material scraped over too many films.
@joshcarlosjosh @living_marble My grandma would make a pitcher of Kool-Aid and as we kids drank it down she would just keep adding more water rendering a weaker, less interesting beverage. This was “good enough for the children,” which I think is how the studios and streamers feel about using the same old IP.
@joshcarlosjosh I'll probably enjoy half of the films half as well as I should like and less than half of them as well as they deserve.
@joshcarlosjosh I love how everything is just IP now. A story, a work of art doesn't matter. All that matters is infinite sequel and reboot possibilities. Just give me more of that content. Newer content. I'm incontinent and discontent with content.
@joshcarlosjosh I’ve just started listening to the audiobooks read by Andy Serkis. I’m late to the party, but… I see what you did there.
@joshcarlosjosh Let’s just admit that a Ghibli LOTR is the only reimagining we need.
@joshcarlosjosh If Peter Jackson is not fully involved and has all the creative control over the project LOTR is going to end up like Star Wars, incredible first 3 movies and after that crap after crap after crap like rings of power.
@joshcarlosjosh I don't have that fear, don't ask me why.
@joshcarlosjosh I still want that Battle of the North movie.
@joshcarlosjosh you mean like the hobbit?
@joshcarlosjosh On the other hand. Children of hurin is an opportunity for them to prove they've learned from the hobbit. Its great material for a film
@joshcarlosjosh One entire Bombadil movie. One movie covering Shelob's backstory. Etc Plenty of material
@joshcarlosjosh They are movies that will really feel like movies
@joshcarlosjosh Middle Earth and the studios of power
@joshcarlosjosh the first movies were perfectly fine. they really dont have to keep remaking the movies, but knowing capitalism theyre going to milk any nostalgia dry ):
