According to Shopify, customers spend $22+ more on orders with free shipping compared to the median order with paid shipping (likely due in large part to free shipping threshold incentives). If you're not offering free shipping incentives, you should be.

Don't make website choices based on what you like. Make choices based on what works. E.g., popups. No one "likes" popups. But they work. Don't miss out on getting email addresses from 5% of your website visitors just because you don't like popups.

Consider segmenting your abandoned cart flows based on the order value. E.g. Are you willing to offer a greater order completion incentive to orders over $100? If so, then test that out in your flow.

Almost 70% of ecommerce carts are abandoned. If you don't have systems in place to bring those people back to your store to finish their orders, you are absolutely missing out a ton of sales.

I find my favourite marketing books are ones published a while ago. E.g. The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing (1993), Cashvertising (2008), The Copywriter's Handbook (1985). Are there any published in the past couple of years that you would consider must-reads?

Writing copy can be tough. It all starts with your target market. Understand them, their pain points, and how your product/service solves them. Focus on the benefits, not the features.

If it's raining and you sell umbrellas, don't discount your umbrellas. Package them with rainboots. Too many businesses look at discounting as the best way to increase sales. It can result in quick wins, but often it leaves money on the table.

There's a fine line between preparation and procrastination. When I find myself overthinking, I ask myself, would someone who values moving quickly, iterating, and learning on the fly still be preparing? If the answer is no, then I usually need to act.
