🌟🙋♀️ Today is International Women's Day “Investing in women's career advancement through skills and confidence with technology is at the heart of our work,” says Melissa Sariffodeen, co-founder and CEO of Canada Learning Code.
That’s why we started Ladies Learning Code in the first place, to create supportive spaces for women interested in tech to learn from female role models. To learn together and build each other up.
A lot has changed since then, and that’s good news! But even as the digital world expands to become a part of our everyday lives, the gender gap in tech stubbornly remains.
“We’re seeing more and more women and young women interested in pursuing careers in technology, yet we’re still not seeing that in the workforce. In Canada, about a quarter of all the technology roles are held by women.”
“We still feel like there’s a lot of work to do to encourage women to pursue careers in tech, but also to make sure that the tech industry is welcoming, inclusive and supportive.”
