Something you see with the trading influencer accounts is that when they make a call, it’s about 50/50 whether it’s right. But when they talk about a trade they just did (eg “bought some during the recent dip, closing out now”) it’s profitable 100% of the time. Interesting.

if you try random trading rules on raw data, you'll find a lot of stuff that would seem to have made money in the past if you'd been trading it. but you're unlikely to have achieved anything useful, even if your simulation of all the frictions involved was perfect.
