Cultivating non-attachment. Modern society is a trap that tricks us that if only we get X thing, we will finally be happy. X10,000 different things: jobs, possessions, likes, etc. Every day I re-learn that happiness doesn’t come from the extrovert world, it comes from inside.

Here’s how to build a company (or really do anything challenging) while being happy: 1/ Realize that if you achieve your goal, you actually won’t be any happier than you are right now. This is easy to say but hard to do. Set a reminder to meditate on this every day.

Biographies of famous people often mention how they worked at night and on weekends, as if this were painful for them. But if you like what you do, nights and weekends are the best time to work. That's when you get those wonderful big blocks of time without interruptions.

If something doesn’t scare you, even just a little bit, you’re not pushing yourself outside your comfort zone enough. The only way to fail is by not taking the chance in the first place. “Failure” is simply not getting the ideal outcome. It doesn’t mean you won’t be successful.

The old me never cared about making websites "accessible." I would think, "It looks fine on my nice, big LCD monitor!" I realize now the HUGE importance of making sites easy for everyone to use. TLDR: "You’re not the user, stop making websites for yourself." #lambdaschool #coding
