My 5th grader has to fill this out when she has to go to the bathroom at school. Am I right for being weirded out by this? I don't want to cause trouble during her first week but this might be worth speaking up about.

In addition to all of the amazing points made by other adoptees in the comments, my biggest issue with the term "real" parent is that the opposite of the word is "fake" which diminishes the role of the biological family.

My 7 year old has been having difficulty falling asleep for the past few weeks, staying up as late as 1am some nights. I am so happy to have found the @ahwayisland podcast last night- we both love it and we are on our second night of him sleeping at a reasonable hour. Thanks!

As an adoptee, words cannot describe how great it is that @PPFA has an "I am adopted" box to check on their medical history form. It's so rare to see but so appreciated. Also, using "am adopted" instead of "was" is a huge deal to me.

I'm watching "Long Lost Family" on Hulu with the captions on. EVERY TIME the female host has said "placed" for adoption, the captions say "gave up" for adoption. Wtf.

Mayor @PeteButtigieg my husband is trying to convince me not to vote for you because I hate Hall and Oates and you apparently had one of their songs on a playlist. On a scale from 1-10, how much do you like Hall & Oates? I will still like you, but I'm just curious.
