The reason these kinds of things always catch the general public off guard is that they spend their first 10 years of life circulating in tech circles where *everyone* knows where things are headed, so nobody really takes the time to see things from the other group’s perspective

Reading both party platforms reveals that there are still vestiges of the old Democratic party in there, the sane, responsible, hopeful governance of the 90s, and if those guys were the leading voices of the party, they'd win every election with 400+ EVs
