Indeed such figures are given in the CRUK report: the rate at which people were dying from cancer in 2023 is 252 per 100,000 people, a fall of around 23% from where it was in 1973 at 328 per 100,000 people. news.cancerresearchuk.org/2025/06/03/can… 16/18

Two points to note - firstly 2019 was exceptionally low compared with the previous years, so even without COVID, it would have taken a few years for the underlying trend line to match that year's figure... 5/

The final CMI age-standardised mortality analysis based on death registrations in E&W shows that 2024 was, by a whisker, the lowest ever year, slightly beating the last pre-pandemic year of 2019 (which itself was exceptionally low). More context follows:- 1/

Years after the maladministration covered in the Ombudsman's report was addressed, and two years after WASPI and others started complaining, some people are still saying they weren't aware. Really? I wish journalists would challenge rather than lap up what they are told.

We don't teach people about finances, or financial advice, enough. I understand some people are very disappointed by today's decision, but really struggle to see this as the government's fault.
