A Burger King turns into 318 homes in DC. (2011➡️2019)
I tried to get a more head-on shot of the Burger King, but it was impossible to fit the new development into the frame at this angle, which is a problem I like to have. ❤️
Density is good and we should allow way more of it, especially in high opportunity neighborhoods near transit. marketurbanism.com/2018/02/05/den…
@mnolangray I managed construction for the exterior of this building. Great design, construction was horrid but I like to think I made it look good. The green space is to the left. That whole block on U street was garbage to condos, restaurants, and retail. Good gentrification?
@mnolangray oh holy shit it's that bk! When I lived in DC I would walk from Bloomingdale to the H St bars by that all the time good fucking riddance, there was a weird patch of woods behind that BK that dudes were always doing heroin in
@mnolangray Galaxy s10e wide angle lens. Simple.
@mnolangray The photo in the first tweet didn't give me enough info on where that transformation took place, but with this second shot, I recognize the lot. I'm so glad that this got added in this neighborhood. ...I hope the prices aren't too high, but the density was sorely needed.
@mnolangray That looks fantastic. Hope we see even more balconies and rooftop decks on similar projects.
