Today's assignment: say something nice about your city's "rival" city.
@mnolangray I feel like DC doesn't have one. In any direction, it's the "I don't think about you at all" meme. New York doesn't think about us, and we don't think about anyone else.
@mnolangray Struggling to think of something good about huntington beach
@mnolangray pandemonium sure is cool at this time of year
@mnolangray I got engaged in Pittsburgh and it was terrific. Still married 33 years later. Went back to Pittsburgh last month and had a blast. #ClevelandBoy
@mnolangray Chicago has that giant metal bean, that's for sure!
@mnolangray Sacramento is without rivals or peers
@mnolangray I’m from Greater Los Angeles, so I’ll say that the Bay Area has got the most beautiful scenery of any metropolis in the entire USA. And no one anywhere on the planet can beat the Golden Gate Bridge for sheer infrastructural art.
@mnolangray Boston is not the worst place I've ever been.
@mnolangray What if Salt Lake City is "unrivaled?" ;)
@mnolangray When I went to UC Berkeley, everybody always talked about how they hated LA for being superficial. When I went to visit LA, people would say SF is nice. It was the Mad Men elevator scene - "I don't think about you at all"
@mnolangray I don’t think we really have a rival in Pittsburgh because we’re in this weird island where we’re not really east coast but not really Midwest. I don’t think you can compare us to Philadelphia the places are too different but I don’t think we’d fit in Ohio either
@mnolangray LA has better Korean food than Tulsa.
@mnolangray San Francisco has great weather and is more walkable than L.A.
@mnolangray Houston is….. erm… driving distance to New Orleans? Which is probably kind of nice?
@mnolangray Austin’s *are* fantastic, but between the two, San Antonio easily has the better breakfast tacos and anyone who says otherwise is deluding themselves.
@mnolangray LA has a better light rail/metro system than Phoenix/Tucson. Also a lot of southwest cities have a bit more charm than Phoenix.
@mnolangray There's a long list of better things about NYC because they're not just playing the daily game of Big City like Boston is, but if I have to pick one, I'll just pick "Central Park". theonion.com/pretty-cute-wa…
@mnolangray Las Vegas has excellent taxi service to the airport, unimpeded by monorail
@mnolangray “Damn, and they were about to get a public library”
@mnolangray New York's alright, if you like saxophones
@mnolangray Chicago keeps its bean very shiny. @chicagoslicemlp
@mnolangray Boston has an airport code that’s easy to remember. That’s all I got.
@mnolangray I'm from Chicago; I'm not sure what our rival city is. MSP is too good in every dimension to be called a rival. Detroit has access to Canada. St. Louis is beloved for some reason by downstate IL people. Green Bay is nice in every dimension except its American Football team.
@mnolangray Cupertino has lots of good Chinese places scattered about... + They have the one road with a protected bike lane in front of their high school which is better than anything we have in Sunnyvale
@mnolangray LA has much better night life than SF.
@mnolangray The marching band of Pittsburg HS is very good m.youtube.com/watch?v=tbbX4Q…
@mnolangray Ann Arbor isn’t the worst trailer park I’ve ever been to
