#sqlhelp Replication in AG question: Can both the publisher and the distributor be in the same AG? The documentation is not quite clear to me. It says "local" is not supported, but using a listener isn't exactly "local" so just looking to see if anyone has tried it?

#SQLHelp SQL 2017 Std Edition. Server has 256GB RAM. I am showing MEMORYCLERK_SQLBUFFERPOOL = 177GB. What gives? I thought this was limited to 128GB, maybe with an additional 32GB for Columnstore? Still doesn't add to 177GB.

Listening to @SQLHA remind us all that BCP uses technology but requires planning and proper architecture first and foremost. All the tech in the world won't save you if the app and infra architecture is missing.

For those new to AGs: The "Backup Preference" setting doesn't actually do anything except set a flag your backup scripts can reference. A BACKUP command executed on any replica still does a backup (with certain caveats, like COPY_ONLY, etc.)

Turns out when you write a query that's 5MB of text, SQL Server doesn't want to execute it. Go figure. Also, a human didn't write it, it programmed a machine to write the query, and that was the first step into oblivion.

#sqlhelp Extended event session set to capture sqlserver.error_reported event where ([severity] > 15) is not capturing the 8623 messages that are appearing in my log every 10 minutes. Help me get a clue? They are sev 16, and I am capturing other sev 16 msgs.
