Margo Mangy waited only 4 weeks for a publicly funded hip replacement in a public hospital on a Saturday, when the OR was typically empty. We did not need the opaque and corrosive Ford Bill 60 for this innovation. - 1/2 thestar.com/news/canada/pr…
The fundamental problem with the Ford government is that prizes private, non-transparent for-profit innovation while discounting publicly funded hospitals innovating on a daily basis. We must keep healthcare public and ward off profiteering. Key reporting by @Megan_Ogilvie and @KenyonWallace - 2/2
@raghu_venugopal A friend just shared with me how her active 81 year old mother went from a 2 year wait list to a two week knee replacement just by calling ahead!?
@raghu_venugopal I wonder what if there is a difference of outcomes on weekends and evenings vs workday surgery. I mean I don’t like working Sat/Sun, I assume surgeons also don’t 🤷🏻♀️
@raghu_venugopal @ruthmkb Privatization is very much a part of @fordnation plans as well as of all #CON Plans!!!
@raghu_venugopal No idea how popular it is with surgeons, but beyond cutting waitlists, i imagine many people would prefer a weekend or evening surgery - easier to find someone to drop them off/pick them up.
@raghu_venugopal Suspect - Therme spa becomes a casino with province of ON
@raghu_venugopal We need people to think outside the box at this point because what we have is not working. Good on them.
