Its almost like opening up the gates to uncapped numbers of doctors from abroad has completely destroyed the local market. Who could have seen that coming? We have UK trained doctors who will be unemployed, move abroad, or leave medicine coming this August. Absolute farce.

Honest question: If a TAVI list is too straightforward for an SPR, why not train SHOs or house officers? Hundreds of aspiring anaesthetists don’t get into training every year; I’m sure they’d love this opportunity. Why prioritize nurses over doctors for this?

If ICP bolts are too basic for registrars, train your SHOs. If they’re trained, train your House officer. If they’re trained, train the keen Y5 med student shadowing you. Even better, we rotate every 4-6 months, so you surely should have enough doctors to train?
