As the person who delivered the largest number of School Streets in the U.K, let me be clear that it’s a national embarrassment that the response of most Councils, schools, and police forces to this situation is to tell kids to wear hi-vis clothing and ‘be alert’.

@alanvibe In the cycle lanes it's around 10 to 14mph. On the underground it's 20.5mph. Ironically, it's slower for cars because they are the least efficient way to travel around cities and don't scale. They are not the best tool for the job in urban centres.
@YingHuiThe @KnackeredStew Are you for real? I have a 4km ride to the station. Because of the poor attitude of drivers towards cyclists I'm on the defensive the whole time. Like 8/10 cyclists I also drive. If more drivers spent even a little time on a bike there'd be a lot more understanding.
