Wind turbines need rare earth elements for raw materials in permanent magnets for generators. These are extracted by open-pit mining with huge energy output. This causes environmental issues like water pollution, radioactive waste & disruption of ecosystems.

What legacy are we leaving for future generations? The current plan does not require turbine removal at end of life in 10-20 years. The huge structures can't be removed & brought to shore. Let's ensure we're not leaving behind unsightly, non-operating structures for our children.

If they are it's because the pseudo environmentalists are pushing ahead with offshore windmills which have a devastating effect on sea life due to noise and vibrations.
