1. It's my birthday today and I only want one thing. I want these two women, Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi, to be famous. Niloofar and Elahe are Iranian reporters who reported on the death of Mahsa Zhina Amini. They are now in prison and could face the death penalty.

Hey Twitter employees getting laid off tomorrow! IMPORTANT INFO from a CA employment attorney (me): CA's "WARN" law requires Twitter to give you 60 days notice of a massive layoff. A layoff of 50+ employees within a 30 day period qualifies. I know you didn't get that notice.

The lack of a plan in many districts to support students who are out quarantining is revealing. In the rush to get kids back into the one-size-fits-all approach, we've highlighted that meeting kids' needs has never been the primary concern of the school system.

Word fact of the day: ‘wend’ was once a regular alternative to the verb ‘go’. It is fossilised in the phrase ‘wend our way’. ‘Go’ eventually took over, but we still use the past tense of ‘wend’ - ‘went’ - rather than ‘goed’.

One thing I noticed was a lack of respect for the profession of teaching. We have gone on several years/decades where all problems were lumped into the education system (students don't get enough food, schools can do that; students don't get enough activity, schools can ...)
