I’ve had my Kaffir lime tree in the same pot for more than three decades. Dug it out once and cut back the roots - it hated that. So now just leave it alone with bokashi juice occasionally. Seems to be happy in olds soil. First day of spring and some tinynew black leaves emerged.

Project completed. After 15 years of daily cycling and pic taking, starting at stupid o’clock and ending at dawn, I’m tired. I turn 65 this month, time to sleep in. I’ll still take pics and post, but I need to change my approach. Sunrise at Maroubra Beach.

The polar wind made its way to Sydney for the last day of winter, and there’s a marathon on this morning. So I went south away from 35,000 runners. Cronulla Beach was a much quieter place to be.

This street was called Gipps St until 1896 when the authorities thought that renaming it could help quell the activities of the Gipps Street Push. They were young thugs who robbed passers by. Renamed Reservoir St due to a water reservoir up the hill. This is 3 Reservoir St.

On June 22, 1927, Norman Bruhn was shot right about the spot where the wheelie bin is on the left. After he was taken from here, Charlotte Lane in Darlinghurst, to Sydney hospital where de died. He was from Melbourne and was trying to take over from Tilly Devine and Kate Leigh.

It got a little blowy this afternoon, but this morning was perfect for a ferry trip from Circular Quay, crossing Sydney Harbour to Cremorne Point and a walk around Mosman Bay. Four days until spring, when I’ll have a little announcement.

Birchgrove has a peninsula that extends into Sydney Harbour, and is the home to Ballast Park. It’s an homage to the days when this spot was part of the working harbour. That story is too long for here. Dawn North Sydney to the left Harbour Bridge to the right Glorious everywhere

I haven’t ventured to my dear friend Sophia St in Sydney’s Surry Hills in a while. When the Pistol Licensing Act of 1927, the local gangs switched to cut-throat razors as their weapons of choice. This exact spot is where the vice queen’s gangs (Tilly Devine & Kate Leigh) fought.

Last week I posted a pic of a mural above the Dong Nam A Vietnamese grocery in Sydney’s Chinatown, several people asked after the shop’s cat. I was there again this morning for my weekly Paddy’s Market shopping and gave puss a scratch behind the ear.

I’m on the north side of Sydney Harbour looking across to the piers of Walsh Bay. It’s a cloudy early morning, and if you peer into the dark clouds, you can see the pink glow of first light. Pier peering is also recommend.
