Small developers are small businesses. They’re just as vital to the future of our communities as other small businesses like bakeries, cafes, restaurants and grocers. We need to treat them that way.

The median age in Massachusetts is 40, up from 36 in 2000. The 25-44 age group is the largest leaving the state, with many citing housing as the reason for moving. This should scare everyone yet too many are content protecting a broken status quo. We must think different.

Massachusetts has one of the oldest housing stocks in the Nation. Half of all homes were built prior to the 1960s, during a time where average household sizes were much larger than they are today. We need to aggressively work to "right-size" our housing supply.
