Yale wiil pay an 8% tax on annual investment gains from its endowment — up from 1.4% The higher rate will cost Yale about $300 million a year starting next year. Yale’s endowment was valued at $41.4 billion as of June 2024.

This from Cowen is essentially how we have been articulating the right way to think about ASICs vs. GPUs. Both share architectural similarities, right now run different workloads, custom ASICs are more in a constant battle with GPUs than the other way around.
