PSA is wrong as it wishes us to avoid divine judgement, the resurrection reveals that God's judgement is saving. In Christ's death we say amen to the judgement of God as the true and only mercy!

The problem with the PSA debate is definition. Nearly everyone agrees that Christ suffers a punishment for our sins in a vicarious manner. The issue is why his suffering is effective. Put simply is the mechanism one of satisfaction by equivalent suffering or suffering obedience!

The punishment of sin is too petty, the holiness of God demands its complete annihilation. Only a wholly sanctified creation is 'very good' and worthy of it's creator!

Something close to PSA is true. However God derives no satisfaction from punishment as punishment rather from the perfect oneness of mind in humanity to God's wrath on sin, through the Spirit,in Christ while suffering for our sins.

If what you fundamentally believe about the world is not political but only private you are culturally appropriating religion for your own political ends. The Christian message is that Jesus is the supreme authority in all realms, both private and public.
