This talk beautifully demonstrated another mechanism spindles can use to redundantly adapt to stress and ensure bipolarity. Will be interesting to see if this is Kif15 dependent!

Mary Elting @mwelting @EltingLab laser ablated spindles and nuclear envelopes in the yeast S. pombe, which has closed mitosis, and showed that the spindle can shape the nuclear envelope. The spindle and the nuclear envelope are a mechanical pair whose properties are well matched.

How about some highlights from #CellBio2022 ? @Stimac_V gave a FANTASTIC symposium talk this morning on her work with @Toliclab describing how spindle elongation helps pivot polar chromosomes and recover them from the “danger zone” of missegregation.
