I think what the church really needs to make everything better Is another conference about what churches need to make everything better.
The more confidently someone states something, the more likely they are wrong. I'm not entirely sure this is true.
If people had as much faith in God's word As they do in the stupid words coming out of their mouths, This world would be an amazing place.
Four signs your pastor is a hireling: 1) Always talks about giving church money. 2) Rarely preaches. 3) Constantly tells church how much they work, and how long it took them to make the few sermons they do preach. 4) Will not confront anyone about their divisive sins.
How much of a church's effectiveness is dependent on the pastor(s)?
Christians read The Book of Job and think they are Job. When more than likely they are Job's friends.
Any modern Christian book that has the author's face taking up most of the front cover Is going to have very bad doctrine in it.
Our job is to make disciples by teaching them to observe what Christ said, Our job is not to lob a "gospel presentation" at them and run them through The Prayer two minutes later.
False doctrine is based on a few verses taken in isolation. True doctrine agrees with the general tenor of all of Scripture.
You don't just tack Jesus Christ onto your schedule; Your schedule is swallowed up in the person of Christ.
It's ok to have questions As long as you're asking them to get answers.
All things work together for good, But that doesn't mean we should go ahead and do the stupidest thing possible.
If you're too afraid to preach what you believe, you either need to believe better things, or you need to give up preaching entirely.
John MacArthur's book, The Gospel According to Jesus, helped me overcome a lot of bad doctrine I was steeped in. I will always be grateful for him.
