Omaha runner rebuilding from a multi-year hiatus, chasing my previous 28-mile weekly plateau and a dream of running the Moab 240. Follow me on my journey!strava.app.link/GMEYuH3tlVb Omaha, NEJoined March 2022
Came in quite a bit under goal of 15.75 miles last week. Legs were very tight so took a few days off for recovery. Would much rather avoid an injury. Feeling fresh today. First 10k since I started running again.
5.2 mile long run yesterday afternoon, finishing the week at 14.3 miles. Raising weekly mileage this week by 10% to 15.75 miles. Legs are feeling much better than they had a few weeks ago. 🏃♂️🔥
Successful 2 mile tempo run and the fastest run yet since I started running again! The cooler weather helped alot. Really found the next gear on my 2nd mile at 7:53/mile (Not fast for a lot of people but fast for me 😁). Feeling great! Have a great Wednesday!!
Rest day today and its HARD. These are the days that I want to run the most. I need to find something to crosstrain in to get rid of the nagging feeling that I am not doing anything. What are your favorite ways to crosstrain on your off days?
Just completed week 4 of my journey from the couch to running in a future Moab 240. Morning run around Chalco Hills Recreation Area after my overnight shift. Stayed mostly in zone 2 for the duration of the run. Feeling ready to start increasing milage again for week 5 🏃♂️🔥
Last run of the week in the books. Rest day tomorrow and then starting pull back for week 4 with 80% milage goal before increasing to 14.25 miles in week 5.
Morning tempo run at Chalco Hills Recreation Area. Faster pace than normal. Had to take an extra day off this week due to sore legs from running hills. Still on track for 12.8 miles this week. Next week will be pulling back to 80% of week 3 milage.
Last run of the week officially in the books. Long run slower than usual due to tired legs. I've been averaging over 20k steps as well at work, which likely contributed to this a bit. Tomorrow starts week 3. LFG!
1.66 mile run this morning. My watch wasn't cooperating so couldnt get any HR info but it felt good. Fastest run yet. 4 out of 6 runs completed for the week so far.
Kicked off Week 2 with a morning tempo run. Took to the hills as usual. Faster than last week! Hit a 9:25/mi pace despite the humidity. What are you doing to start your week?
I used to think running was for other people.
I was the fat kid.
I sucked at sports.
No one around me ran.
But at one of my lowest points in life I started running.
I couldn't get enough of the way I felt after a good hard run.
Now I can't see ever stopping.
When you start out running, its not gonna be fun or feel good. You feel like you can't breathe, your sore everywhere, and you feel slow. This is not a reason to quit. Wake up tomorrow and do it again. A run/walk method may take weeks to get easier. But just dont quit. Stay strong
Two years sober, and my runs have never been stronger! Quitting drinking gave me sharper focus, better recovery, and more energy. No more hangovers that lead to talking myself out of skipping a run. Just getting started but I'm feeling great!
Nailed my 3-mile run this morning through Omaha’s hills, hitting 10 miles for Week 1! Chasing that ultra-marathon goal, I’m bumping it up 10% to 11 miles next week. What’s your go-to way to celebrate a solid running week? #RunningGrind#UltraMarathonDream#OmahaTrails
