FIRST ALERT to models trending towards few evening storms tonight and move overnight weaker showers instead. These are developing behind the front rather than along it.

Heads up that summer isn't quite done yet. Models are dragging humidity back into the area next week as the dew points climb the muggy meter. Pair that up with a week of 80s for next week into the weekend. Strong signal it lasts into the following week too.

FIRST ALERT to Friday being the coolest afternoon for us all this weekend. Both Sat & Sun morning will dip into the lower 40s too before the afternoons reach the lower 70s. Really comfortable dew points all weekend!!!

FIRST ALERT to some reduced air quality potential today. It's in the moderate range this morning but could worsen later today. Some thicker elevated smoke is likely to move through this afternoon too creating hazy sky.

FIRST ALERT to a warmer day with a bit of a SW breeze during the day. That leads to storm chances later tonight. 6-11pm is the window for a few mostly weak storms to bubble up. An isolated strong storm can't be ruled out, especially in Iowa. Wind will flip to NW overnight.

A little patchy fog is out there this morning but should fade quickly. Mostly sunny sky and a SW breeze will send highs into the mid 70s ahead of a chance for storms tonight. Wildfire smoke passing through will make for hazy sky too.

First alert to a mild day in the 70s Thursday afternoon before a small chance of spotty storms enters the forecast after 6pm. Just enough storm energy nosing north into our area from the SW to feed one or two stronger storms IMO. We'll see how this progresses. Breezy SW wind.

Clouds are increasing this morning leading to some spotty showers possible after 7am though about 5pm this afternoon. Steady rain is not expected but mostly cloudy skies are. A high in the lower 70s is likely very early in the afternoon.
