When the saxophone becomes a voice of its own… Grover Washington Jr. on “Just The Two Of Us”
@SVG__Collection @UNDERCOVER_JM Brilliant - the Joy of Sax…😉
@SVG__Collection The beginning of my love for this music genre at an early age The Great Grover Washington!🔥🔥🔥🙌🏽
@SVG__Collection That album was played to death by me 😎
@SVG__Collection Were they working in the plant or for a construction contractor building on site?
@SVG__Collection So sad that we lost Grover at such a young age.
@SVG__Collection Grover still IS my favorite. He’s was one of the architects of contemporary Jazz, a precursor of Smooth Jazz. IMO, there is a difference as Contemporary Jazz still contains many elements of the previous generations of Jazz but blends R&B & Funk. Smooth Jazz is formulaic.
@SVG__Collection That's the melody that got me into saxophone.
@SVG__Collection Grover was popular thanks to his smooth jazz work, but also recorded some hard-core cuts as a sideman where his true ability show.
@SVG__Collection It's a bit ungrateful that this song went to Bill Withers when he was a collaborator of Grover, not the main artist.

@SVG__Collection C’mon transition! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 One of the smoothest transitions ever.
@SVG__Collection Ohhhh Yeeeaaah, Play it!
@SVG__Collection good melodies, good personal style, good sound on the tenor sax -- almost my brother...
@SVG__Collection Really good. Can’t believe, in so many years of listening to this, this section never got me to pause and replay.
@SVG__Collection My dad use to say “ Grover, made the song Knucklehead, just for you;son!!!”😂😂😂I was about 7 years old when it came out.😂😂😂😂😂
@SVG__Collection THE benchmark for today's smooth jazz sax players.
