Meanwhile, the premier is weighing in. It’s been 12 years since Toronto had a left-wing mayor and the city has a $1.5 billion budget hole so I’m not sure what the fear is, really. The last left-wing mayor left office with a budget surplus.

There is no need for Metrolinx to do this. It cannot build the stations as proposed for a variety of serious technical and financial reasons. There is plenty of time to find a different path while solutions to the technical issues are found, or a different plan is adopted.

I don’t know how this isn’t a state of emergency. Two of the warming centres downtown are already full. People have nowhere to go. This system failure is incredibly cruel in -20 weather. We need more humanity in public policy right now.

Shouldice is an example of how For Profit surgery “up-sells” patients. Most hernia surgery in ON requires no overnight stay. Shouldice charges patients (paid out of pocket or private insurance) for in-hospital stays. This shows the $$ risk associated with for profit care.

Trauma survivors very often get so used to blotting out our feelings & physical sensations for the sake of staying functional every day, that we don't even REALIZE when we're having an emotion or our body is clenching up. Knotty emotions & muscles can kind of become the norm.

Complex trauma tries to tell us we gotta hide from everyone, because if anyone REALLY saw or knew us, they'd feel as bad about us as WE feel about OURSELVES. CPTSD mangles our self-perception & tries to cut us off from sources of support & reality testing. Push back.
