Having a good time explaining that yes, your taxable income is basically the same as last year and no, that doesnt mean tax is the same. When there is a 7 figure swing from cap gains income in 2022 to ordinary income in 2023 it hits a little different...

#TaxTwitter - Form 8453 - is this required even if docs are being attached through the tax software for efiles? I never thought it was, but I'm talking to a CPA who insists it is. Always thought it was just for docs related to an efiled return that couldnt be attached to efile.
I'm always amazed at how many brokers dont know crap about the PTPs they put their clients into. Sir, I know the PTP was sold in September. She will still be receiving a K1 that we need to wait for. Please stop telling her we should be able to finish her return without it.

This. A million times over, this. It's always my recommendation to NOT make Roth IRA contributions throughout the year. We can always go back and make the contribution pre-4/15, and that gives us the flexibility of IRA vs. Roth based on tax situations, too. #FinTwit #TaxTwitter

Some folks in the town over from me will be sentenced for committing PPP fraud to the tune of $2.4 million. They used "dormant and expired" businesses to apply for the loans. It was way too easy to get PPP funds.
Watching the news and clearly I need more coffee and instead of cream I should probably use Baileys.
Extending the TCJA for only those below $400k would be a compliance nightmare and increase compliance costs on everyone, including those under $400k. Dumb idea. (And $400k also needs to be adjusted for inflation)
