There's a large & growing "parenthood gap" b/w the two major political parties. But this gap is relatively new. In 1974, 24% of Dem's & 24% of Rep's had no children. In 2000, 25% of Dem's & 25% of Rep's had no children. In 2024, 37% of Dem's & 22% of Rep's had no children.

Trends will likely continue. Rep. teens are far more likely than Dem. teens to say having kids (38%-24%) is important. This also mirrors adult views. In 2023, ~33% of Rep adults said having kids or being married is important for a fulfilling life. <20% of Dem adults said so.

A 2022 survey of 40,000+ college students found large differences in abstract support for “using violence to stop campus speech” based on gender identity. For example, 37% of agender students said it's “always” or “sometimes” acceptable to use violence while 4% of women did.

In November 2023, the Census Bureau projected the foreign-born share of the US population would not reach 15.6% until 2040. In fact, the foreign-born share hit 15.6% in 2024. The foreign-born number and share of the population in 2024 was higher than at any time in US history.
