If the best rates for an annuity at age 65 - escalating at 3% with a survivors’ pension of 50% - are currently c.5.3% then an annual pension income of £70-£80,000 a year would cost a DC saver somewhere between £1.3m and £1.5m if bought at retirement. Is that roughly right? (2)

I have done some very rough calcs... Based on a typical career progression for a doctor in the NHS and the rules of the current 2015 NHS Pension Scheme – a hospital doctor could expect an estimated annual pension income of between £70,000 and £80,000 upon retiring (1)
