The ongoing sell-off in risk assets is primarily due to the end of QE and tightening monetary conditions. The downtrend in stocks started months before the geopolitical conflict. Post-GFC, the 40-month EMA on $NDX (~11,800) and $SPX (~3,700) is where prior bear-markets ended.

When monetary tide goes out, risk assets deflate. Bear-markets typically end when valuations have become reasonable (not when many growth stocks are trading at 30-40X NTM revenues + $NDX is trading at ~30X NTM earnings). Unless Fed abruptly stops QE taper, more pain ahead.
