If tariffs are inflationary due to the increased cost on goods then raising interest rates is inflationary due to the increased cost incurred by the consumer on many of those same goods. The end result to the consumer is the exact same. They pay more.
A recession only happens when the stock market goes down. That's because the rich who make up a disproportionate amount of GDP see their paper wealth decrease so they slow spending. Which means everyone else has been living in a multi-year recession anyways.
