I strongly believe that a free market economy is optimal for society in the long term.
However, when the supply-demand curve is broken (monopolies controlling supply or the near infinite demand of healthcare), those industries need regulation.
Let's talk about social authoritarianism. We can break low-rung thinkers (those who identify with their ideas, care more about being right than truth, never change their mind, etc.) down into three categories:
1. Non-authoritarians
2. Social bullies
3. Idea supremacists

This should have been the first approach.
It reduces the threat of escalation in the least violent situations while enabling officer protection where needed.
Stereotyping is easy. It can be built entirely on annecdotes derived from a loud minority of a population, especially with negative annecdotes.
Understanding people beyond their labels is extremely important, but extremely difficult.

Ignoring the fact that "1933" is inherently arbitrary and that the leading presidents benefited from WWII and the Cold War -
The economy is inherently cyclical and doesn't only react to recent gov policies.
This is as much of a stretch as saying Reps have been better since 1981.

As with any developing crisis, it is EXTREMELY important to avoid spreading breaking news as soon as it comes in. Be aware that the internet is a big game of telephone - give stories time to develop.

As a society, we need a revised cost-benefit analysis of vaccine mandate regulations. Given the diminishing efficacy against the latest variants, does the upside of vaccinating that last 15-20% outweigh the downside of relocating sick children?

As we reflect on the despicable events of #January6th, be very careful where you cast blame and judgement. People of any viewpoint can be drawn to violence and reject evidence when they believe they have been wronged.

I see "60% of Republicans" trending and click. It's a statistic: 60% of Republicans are unvaccinated. Wow, I thought, that's a lot—and then I looked at the source. The poll actually found that 60% of the unvaccinated are Republicans. A stat going viral doesn't mean it's correct!

The issue here isn't that he gets to walk free - there was sufficient reasonable doubt that it was self defense. The issue is that historically, not everyone has received the same benefit of doubt.

Once tribalism really captures a society, it's hard to shed. Tribalism embeds itself deep within communities, families, and friendships, and stitches itself to people's identities and senses of meaning, purpose, and self-worth. Undoing that is a long and excruciating process.
Just as you can't disprove climate change with a cold snap, you can't prove it with a heat wave.
