Curious what happens in Iowa. Both 2012 and 2016 had favorable weather (mid 30s). Looks like Monday will be solidly below 0 Fahrenheit. And it’s a holiday. Not sure how that swings things. Who exactly is going out to stand around in a high school gymnasium for a few hours?

Oakmark Select $OAKLX picking up $PAYC in 4Q was unexpected. I'm guessing their long history with $ADP gave them some confidence in the industry trends and underlying economics. But still nice to see them getting more comfortable with software. oakmark.com/news-insights/…

What are some deals that were widely hated by shareholders that ended up being home runs? Fiserv - First Data is one of a very few that come to mind. It seems quite rare.
On one hand, Chinese earnings yields are near peak levels vs bonds ( bloomberg.com/news/articles/… ) On the other, Citi is expanding into China. ( ft.com/content/994e59… )
Small cap managers, especially quality-oriented ones, should bench against the S&P 600 (and its growth / value variants) rather than the Russell 2000. "Not buying stocks that lose money" is a pretty consistent winner at the index level. You should add value on top of that.
The annual airing of errors, 2023 edition. On balance, not a bad year. I don't look back and see many "what were you thinking?" level mistakes.
