Working with chronic illness a thread: (1) As someone who is chronically ill it’s very difficult for me to get to work on time. On a good day I’m 10min late and on a bad day I’m 45min late but on average I’m about 20min late.

In my experience, living with and managing complex chronic illness like #POTS, #LongCOVID, #MECFS, #PTLDS, requires a lot of vigilance and time. Ironically, it's that vigilance (which helps us function) that others often mistake for unhealthy "fear" or preoccupation/anxiety.
It's wild to me that we are doing so little to mitigate risk when so many people are still ending up with #LongCOVID. There is a lot we can do collectively.
Let’s say it again for those in the back: the only way to avoid #LongCOVID is to avoid getting #COVID. If @POTUS still wants to declare the pandemic over, then maybe it’s time to declare the new pandemic: the Long COVID pandemic. nature.com/articles/d4158…

Thomas Ruffen, may he rest in peace, played a critical role in GBIO organizing the residents of Mildred C. Hailey that led to the victory of $50 million to address deferred maintenance. Thomas had a servant’s heart as one member described him; we agree and will miss him dearly.
