Perversely, if it's chronic, some of these trackers may conclude it's your normal and reported it as such.

@altini_marco On the good side all those wereables on garmin and oura provide the all night hrv data so I usually go into the last part of sleep specially on garmin that have the highest sample rate and more granular feedback on that :)

That’s so right and important to know. If someone of u is looking for age and sex stratified percentiles of 24h RMSSD or SDNNi as a reference gained from more than 7000 office clerks look at the supplemental table 2 of this paper : frontiersin.org/journals/neuro…
many studies compare HRV between groups, e.g. healthy controls vs people with a specific condition often, a statistically significant difference is found in the average HRV of these groups, showing that e.g. healthy controls have higher HRV these studies, while important to…

@altini_marco making sure i follow: is the idea here that if you have a stressor before bed, your data will be affected for a few hours and disrupt sleep, BUT if your data returns to baseline in the AM, the average of the full observation period could be misleading wrt next day's recovery?
@altini_marco my garmin epix is ok with hrv after heavy meals before sleep it is not ok with alcohol before bed, which is understandable

The single most important thing to understand is that pain is always influenced by context - our environment, thoughts, beliefs, mood, coping mechanisms etc. Pain is often associated with issues in the tissues but it isn't a barometer of the amount of tissue change.

@altini_marco @lebosquet Healthy young soccer players. Same fitness level. HRV discriminates high-normal from normal BP (all normotensive) supporting plenty of other data suggesting lower HRV may precede high blood pressure.
No mention of FHH, but HRV differences based on BP have even been reported in normotensive young athletes. Despite matched height, weight, & VO2max in teen soccer players, HRV was lower in players with higher mean arterial pressure after median split. academic.oup.com/ajh/article/27…
